Headingley Festival of Ideas Years 10 & 11

Schools Debating Competition 2015

Qualifying Rounds

As part of the first Headingley Festival of Ideas, in May 2014, we hosted a school debating competition for year 10 & 11 pupils (ages 14-16 years), as a one-off event between three Headingley schools. For 2015 we are expanding the competition include qualifying rounds to win a place in the final in May 2015.

Two of the three schools involved in the 2014 competition -  Lawnswood School and Abbey Grange Church of England Academy - host, in order - Ralph Thoresby High School and Allerton High School. Cardinal Heenan Catholic High, as last year's winners, take the third place in the final.

The competition uses the format and topic guides of the Institute of Ideas sixth-form Debating Matters competition. Click on the link for Judges Biographies.
