Jordans Wakefield Sixth-Form Debating Competition 2016 - Qualifying Rounds

Jordans Solicitors, King Street, Wakefield.

For the second year running Leeds Salon is working with Jordans Solicitors in Wakefield to help run and develop their sixth-form debating competition; now enteirng its sixth year.

Qualifying Round 1 will be hosted by last year's winners, Silcoates School, and Qualifying Rounds 2 will be held at Jordans' King Street offices. All rounds start from 4:30pm.

The winners from each round will meet the runners-up from the other round in the final at The Hepworth Wakefield, on Tuesday 6 December, which is also the Debating Matters Wakefield Qualifying Round (see below for the results of that round).

In Jordans Final at The Hepworth on 6 December, Outwood Grange defeated Wakefield College in the first knock-out debate, and StHon Fisher defeated Silcoates School in the second knock-out debate. IN the final-decider, Outwood Grange Academy were crowned Jordans Champions 2016, and go through to the Debating Matters Yorkshire Regional Final in the spring to compete againt another 5 Yorkshire schools for a place in the DM National Final.

Edward Dunbavin of Outward Grange Academy was also nominated 'Best Individual' by our team of judges - both for is perfomance as a panellists and for his question from the floor. He'll receive a letter from Jordns Solicitors and a certificate from Debating Matters.
